Rusk utility customers are responsible for paying their city water bills by the due date listed on their bill each month. No customers will be telephoned for any reason concerning payment of a bill. Water, sewer and trash pick-up services will be discontinued on any account not paid before 4 p.m. on the 24th of each month. Any bill dropped into the night deposit box, located to the right of the front door of City Hall, before 8 a.m. of the 25th of each month will be considered paid on time. The city allows three (3) extensions for city utility bills a year per account, for emergency situations only. Customers may obtain extensions by signing an extension form, available at City Hall. Extension fee is $5 for each time approved and paid up front. Any customer that does not pay a city utility bill by the due date, and has not obtained an extension will be disconnected. Once a disconnect list is compiled and turned over to the Public Works employee in charge of disconnects, the account will be considered disconnected whether or not service was actually cut off. Customers will be charged a $30 administration fee to get their service turned back on upon payment of the past due bill.
